This is so close to the case I've been waiting for! If somebody made a soundproofed case with this much radiator support at a similar price point I'd be all over it, but this is probably close enough.
  • hero1 - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

I am on the same boat as you. Too bad I am currently modifying my Fractal Design Define XL R2 to fit 2 x 360 mm rads. I think I might snatch one If they ever make another one like this with capability to take 2 x 360 mm thick rads (up to 65 mm). Other than that, it's a good case.
  • cbgoding - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

You got a build thread for that?
  • ggathagan - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

You could do the soundproof work yourself. There are a number of on-line vendors that carry the damping material.
  • cbgoding - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

And stick it to the inside of the window? if corsair offers a windowless version, then sure that route would work perfectly.
  • Guernb2 - Tuesday, October 15, 2013 - link

I bet the if side panels are reversible, you could ask corsair for another back panel and maybe it could work.
  • Thurwell - Tuesday, October 8, 2013 - link

Check out the NZXT H630, soundproofed case with lots of radiator support for $149. Kind of ugly though.
  • DanNeely - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

No empty case or build galleries?
  • MooseMuffin - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

Is the window really that important to people? Seems like they could solve some of their air cooling woes by throwing a big fan on the side panel like they do with the carbide 500R.
  • Liquid_Static - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

I hate to say this, but frankly I'm getting bored with Corsair's cases. Don't get me wrong I love their products, but their cases have been just more of the same.
  • alincioaba - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

The 3.5" cages are stackable that's good... my question is can you add an extra one (provided that corsair will sell you one)?
  • garadante - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

Sure looks like it, as that's what they offered with the 900D. Perhaps the drive cages are even identical? I know the 900D came with 2 or 3 drive caves but you could have 5 installed total I think.
  • Grok42 - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

Not my choice of case for other reasons but I have to give them a lot of credit for being able to stack cages and selling additional ones. Now if they would only sell 2.5" in addition to 3.5" cages.
  • BillyTheBigBone - Friday, February 14, 2014 - link

yes you can. I ordered one from them.
  • Alan G - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

In this day and age, two USB 2.0 along with two USB 3.0 ports on the front panel? Why?
  • DanNeely - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

At $159 "it's cheaper" isn't a good excuse; but I'm sure that's still part of it. Probably Corsair's explanation if asked would be that a lot of mid range mobos still only have a single USB3 header and very few people would be plugging in 3 USB3 devices at once anyway.

IMO the better option would be to include either a short adapter cable to connect a USB3 cable to a USB2 header, or to wire the second connector onto the cable itself like the dual connector cable you often see on front panel audio. I'd prefer the first option because it lets people with 2 USB3 headers toss the adapter in their junkbox and have a cleaner build.
  • Liquid_Static - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

What else is going to go there...
  • LB-ID - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

I was doing a fresh Win7 install on a new computer the other day, couldn't figure out why the keyboard and mouse kept going dead during the install process. Figured out it was lack of USB3 support on the OS, so was very very happy to have a couple of USB2 ports on my Nanoxia DS1. Sometimes it pays to have backwards compatibility available...
  • Threnx - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

I would like it a lot more without the gaudy window. It's 2013, who still thinks those look good? They should go the way of lighted LED fans.
  • flemeister - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

    Not you, evidently! =D

I love the look of a clean side panel window, free of any ugly fan grills. And anyway, it's 2013, where an all-black interior is now pretty much standard for ATX cases. More and more PSU's come with decent looking cables, whether just black insulation on the wiring, or braided sleeving installed by default. And it's *very* easy to find nice looking motherboards and video cards now, compared to ~2009 and earlier. There's been no better (or easier) time to show off the guts of your rig! =)
  • just4U - Wednesday, September 25, 2013 - link

Totally agree.. and with that said here's my current system http://imageshack.us/a/img545/9060/g45f.jpg and yes it has a window! (Corsair 350D)
  • pdjblum - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

You continue to be dismissive and arrogant by refusing to even acknowledge by constant complaint about not listing the bill of materials in the spec table. Here is the spec table from the review on bit-tech.net that was also published today:

    Specifications
    Dimensions (mm) 235 x 546 x 560 (W x D x H)
    Material Steel, plastic
    Available colours Black
    Weight 9.5kg
    Front panel Power, reset, 2 x USB 3, 2 x USB 2, stereo, microphone
    Drive bays 3 x external 5.25in, 6 x internal 3.5in/2.5-in, 4 x dedicated 2.5in
    Form factor(s) E-ATX, ATX, micro-ATX, mini-ITX
    Cooling 2 x 120/140mm front fan mounts (2 x 140mm fans included), 1 x 120/140mm rear fan mount (140mm fan included), 3 x 120/140mm top fan mounts (fan not included), 2 x bottom 120mm fan mounts (fans not included)
    CPU cooler clearance 180mm
Maximum graphics card length 460mm (340mm in extreme low slot with storage caddie installed)
    Extras Removable dust filters

Too bad you cannot do the same.
  • jdon - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

And you continue to be arrogant by refusing to even acknowledge that you are a reader, not an editor. Take a powder, and cut Dustin a little slack or ask nicely. We can Google any information we want that isn't here.

Too bad you cannot quietly do the same.
  • pdjblum - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

I have asked nicely numerous times to date, but he has not even responded. The review is not complete without the build materials, and a reader should not have to search outside of the review to find out something as pertinent as this. I would have not been such a big shot and responded to one of my polite comments over the years already.
  • just4U - Wednesday, September 25, 2013 - link

Yes but that certainly doesn't mean he's being arrogant or pig-headed about it. Dustin's pretty damn good about fielding questions/comments about his articles.
  • A5 - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

What is in that list that isn't in the table on page 1? The dust filters?
  • LB-ID - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

Dustin, whatever HAS happened to Antec? They really used to be the market leader in cases, and now they just seem to have whimpered quietly off into the night.
  • HisDivineOrder - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

Can't wait for the inevitable cube-shaped Obsidian case. Hope they go 550D and try to make it silent, but deadly with lots of fan ports. Also, they can toss the window and give me some places for GPU cooling on the side instead.

Too many windows of late, too few places for GPU cooling.
  • Teizo - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

    More like 350D's big brother
  • just4U - Wednesday, September 25, 2013 - link

    Yep
  • b3nzint - Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - link

Does it has a gpu holder mechanism? and I need 4 bay 5.25". But overall not bad.
  • hemi79 - Wednesday, September 25, 2013 - link

This looks like a great case! I had the C70 and just felt the need for more space so I looked into to the Obsidian models, but the 650D model didn't convince me due to the 200mm fans. This seems like the perfect case for my case. I went with the NZXT Switch in Matte Black and while I had all the space I dreamed of, I have to say the quality of the build and material did not compare to the Corsair C70. I almost regretted it, but I made peace with my decision instead of paying return shipping. lol
  • UltraWide - Saturday, September 28, 2013 - link

One thing you can't tell from the pictures and review is how flimsy this case is. The overall quality is very low, more in line with the Carbide series. The design and layout is excellent, but the metal is just too thin and the case frame/structure bends easily. I am returning mine and going with the NZXT H630.
  • Cainethanatos - Monday, September 30, 2013 - link

Oh really, is it that bad ? I am aswell looking at the 750D or the H630 . Dustin, compared to the H630, the build quality better oir worse (or the same(ish) ). Otherwise I might need to flip a coin :)
  • lorribot - Saturday, October 5, 2013 - link

Hands up anyone who would use all 10 HD drive bays? What about all three 5.25 bays?
I do sometimes feel it is a case of "because we can, we will" when it comes to the number drive bays in cases. I imagine most people are likely to need no more than two, one 2.5 and one 3.5, some may need to use a 5.25 for fan controls or even a blue ray but to be honest I can't remember the last time I put a DVD into a computer.
It would be a brave case manufacture that dropped completely or only provided ony a single 5.25 bay (or low profile one) and only 2 or 3 2.5/3.5 multi use bays in anything other than an ITX case
But whatever the case size I would expect improved air flow without all the extra bits of metal spoiling things. It might even reduce prices a bit and simplify installations and provide more layout options internally.

This case like many others reviewed is safe, uninspiring and of little merit. Apart from the odd case that nudges at the boundaries there is nothing really happening in case design, it is ripe for some real design people to step in and provide some real inspiration and flair, sadly it seems that only Apple, albeit freed from the constraints of standard motherboard layouts, is up for the challenge.

"Noise levels prove to be a victory for Corsair, but they're still struggling to beat NZXT's Phantom 630, which runs both quieter and cooler."

This isn't true at all, look at the test, at Overclocked Load and Full Fat the CPU in the NZXT Phantom 630 is 8-10 degrees hotter, this is HUGE in the 750D favour.
  • limaxophobiac - Friday, October 11, 2013 - link

Nevermind I was looking at the H630 not the Phantom. The Phantom is indeed cooler.
  • The_Goods - Tuesday, October 15, 2013 - link

I love the heck out of my 800D. It's a gorgeous space to build a veritable waterpark of cooling.

When I don't love it, is when I have to pick up the 70lbs of PC manlove.

These new ones are going to make for some happy hooligans.
  • sdmf74 - Tuesday, October 22, 2013 - link

dude you have your SSD plugged in to your optical drive WTF
  • Antonio Cortina - Monday, October 20, 2014 - link

I have this box for a week now and I've seen the HDD LED does not work :(
Not know the Corsair RMA policy but they should change the box completely.
I've already put a complaint in the store but they doubt that the supplier's change me for another.
All Obsidian boxes I've had in the European area had a defect.
I hope Corsair fix this or lose a lot of customers
